Course Introduction:
The course is ideal for students who are good at working on projects and have a keen interest a range of science disciplines
The topics covered are
- Principles of science
- Scientific procedures and techniques
- Science investigation skills
- Physiology of the human body
Each unit has a different focus from producing a lab book record, carrying out an investigation, producing reports and demonstrating a clear understanding of fundamental ideas.
Students will develop their evaluation skills being able to draw detailed conclusions form a range of data and information.
Assessment:
The final course grade is made up of the following:
- Coursework – 40% – two units, one covering standard practical techniques used in a range of scientific workplaces and the second is a deep look at human physiology and how treatment plans are decided in medicine.
- Exam x 2 – 60% – these test your knowledge of a fundamental scientific concepts and your ability to carry out and evaluate a scientific investigation
