Hanson Academy is currently working towards achieving the SEND Inclusion Award.
What’s in the SEND Inclusion Award?
This award helps schools deliver high-quality education for pupils with SEND. Compliant with the SEND Code of Practice, the award framework focuses on removing barriers to learning through early identification, inclusive teaching and leadership. It also allows you to evaluate impact to improve classroom practice and pupil outcomes.
The award benefits:
- Promote inclusivity – Ensure that pupils with SEND engage in the activities of the school alongside pupils without SEND and that pupils with SEND and their parents are full partners in all decisions.
- Identify needs – Identify and support SEND needs early, using thorough assessments and data to plan tailored teaching, interventions, and resources that are regularly reviewed.
- High-quality teaching – Enable all teachers and support staff who work with pupils of SEND to have the highest aspirations for them and expect them to succeed.
- Involve parents – Ensure parents of pupils with SEND are full participants in planning the support and interventions for their children and offer help and training so they can better support their children’s learning.
- Compliancy – Demonstrate that your SEND policy and practice promotes an inclusive ethos and is compliant with key legislation and DfE guidance.
- Leadership – Ensure your school champions inclusion with a clear SEND vision, strong leadership, smart budgeting, and a focused strategy to improve outcomes for every pupil.
