Sign Health Workshops

The Deaf Charity ‘Sign Health’ was invited into school to deliver a range of educational workshops at Hanson’s Deaf Resourced Provision, which was arranged by Mrs Holmes.  Mrs Holmes felt the workshops would be a good source of information for all the Resourced Provision pupils in a larger group setting to encourage pupil discussion.

The content of the workshops was designed to develop the Deaf students’ understanding of acceptable and unacceptable behaviour in the real world, so that they can stay safe.

The pupils were split into two groups and supported by a range of staff members. The workshops were delivered by 2 members of Sign Health staff per group, who had travelled to school from London.

When the workshops were completed, the pupils gave feedback to several members of staff, stating that they felt that they understood and were more aware of the dangers of social media (including cultural and sexual dangers).
