Kangi Chalashika
Armed with a BSc in Mathematics and Physics and a Post graduate Diploma in Education, Kangi’s career in education began in Botswana in 2000 as a lecturer in Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, and Hydraulics. He later transitioned to teaching mathematics at a secondary school, delivering lessons at the GCSE-equivalent level.
In 2004, Kangi moved to the UK and soon joined Hanson School as an unqualified teacher, teaching mathematics to Key Stage 3 and 4 students. He later joined Carlton Bolling School, where he gained UK Qualified Teacher Status and subsequently became the Key Stage 5 Mathematics Coordinator. He continued in this role at Tong High School before returning to Hanson School in 2020 as Assistant Director of Mathematics and soon progressed to the role of Director of Mathematics.
Throughout his career, Kangi has been committed to professional development, continuously enhancing his expertise in mathematics as a subject, as well as in classroom pedagogy. His academic journey includes a BA (Honours) in Professional Studies in Learning and Teaching (2011), Teaching Advanced Mathematics (2014), NPQML (2019), and a Master’s Degree in Education (2021). He is currently studying for the NPQSL.
As a teacher, Kangi firmly believes in student-centred learning, ensuring that students are active participants in their education. As a leader, he advocates a collaborative approach, recognising that when individuals work together, they can achieve remarkable results.
