Sonia Dharni

In Sonia’s first year at Manor Croft Academy, Sonia was recognised for her dedication and effectiveness, earning the role of Second in Department in a remarkably short time. This promotion marked the beginning of a trajectory that would see Sonia take on increasing levels of responsibility, soon becoming the Head of English. During this period, Sonia played a key role in shaping the department’s success, leading the team to achieve the highest academic results in Kirklees—a testament to their strategic vision, support for colleagues, and commitment to student achievement.

Building on this success, Sonia was promoted to Associate Assistant Principal, a role that expanded her influence beyond the English department. In this capacity, she supported other subjects across the academy, helping to shape the overall academic culture and fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment. This experience laid the foundation for her next promotion to Assistant Principal, where she continued to lead the English department while also taking on broader leadership responsibilities at the academy.

After nine years of making a lasting impact at Manor Croft Academy, Sonia embraced a new challenge in 2024, taking on the role of Associate Vice Principal at Hanson Academy. In this new position, she brings with her a wealth of experience, a deep understanding of curriculum and pedagogy, and an unshakable belief in the power of education to transform lives.
